In our cities today, the language of our built environment exhibits characteristics that create disproportionate burdens for racial minorities, women, youth, and sexual and gender minorities of all ages and abilities, reinforcing inequities with regard to accessibility, mobility, health and safety, resilience and other areas.
These outcomes are reflective of a history of city design and planning where a language of exclusion has predominated. This Urban Thinkers Campus Roundtable event will feature a dynamic conversation among several contemporary thinkers whose work is centered around creating cities that speak a more inclusive language for everyone as a catalyst for a broader conversation among participants.
The session will include information on practical resources and guidance for broader community application, challenging participants to put the ideas into use in their own work.
