A thought-provoking online seminar will delve into the intricacies of advancing Fit-For-Purpose Land Administration (FFPLA) on a larger scale, drawing insights from real-world experiences. The FFPLA methodologies, which are widely acknowledged and commended for their cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and spatial flexibility compared to traditional land administration practises, will be the focal point. Originally established more than ten years ago, the FFPLA standard is designed to enhance spatial, legal, and institutional frameworks. While discussions about expanding FFPLA often emphasise the potential of rapidly gathering data through cutting-edge technologies at a minimal cost and on a grand scale, a crucial consideration is how this velocity aligns with the gradual changes in legal and institutional structures—processes that tend to be more long-term in nature. If data can indeed be collected and efficient systems can be established inexpensively, the subsequent concerns revolve around the sustained expenses and capabilities necessary in the long run, particularly concerning system maintenance and updates.

This webinar will shine a light on the frequently underestimated yet pivotal elements of legal and institutional frameworks that serve as the foundation for enduring transformations in land governance. Achieving a harmonious equilibrium between technological advancements and governance procedures, while acknowledging their differing paces, emerges as indispensable when striving for substantial and enduring influence. The challenges and insights gained from amalgamating these methodologies will be probed comprehensively, with special emphasis on involving non-technical stakeholders in these discussions.
