The City Centre Sustainable Housing Design competition in South Africa is a collaborative effort between the CIB Working Commissions in Smart and Sustainable Built Environments (W116) and Construction in Developing Countries (W107). This competition aims to engage teams of undergraduate architectural students and students from other disciplines across thirteen South African universities. Sponsored by the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) and Boogertman and Partners (B+P), and hosted by the Nelson Mandela University, the competition seeks to foster innovative approaches to sustainable housing design.

Participants have the opportunity to download the competition brief and attend workshops covering various topics related to architectural design and sustainability. These workshops will address key issues aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, offering valuable insights and support for the competition. CIB members are encouraged to join these workshops and contribute to the competition brief as per their interests and expertise.

Competition entries submission due date - 17th of May 2024.
