This impact report documents how the South African Cities Network (SACN), through its Urban Safety Reference Group (USRG), strengthened gender‑based violence (GBV) prevention by supporting youth‑led organisations through a national, two‑round competition. It highlights a five‑month capacity‑building process that equipped young leaders with skills in community engagement, leadership, and design thinking, followed by targeted grant funding for the most promising interventions. The report captures key outcomes such as improved organisational capacity, innovative and scalable GBV prevention approaches, stronger peer and government collaboration, and the empowerment of youth as critical actors in advancing community safety and effective GBV prevention and response.
