The purpose of the Guideline is to provide guidelines to be applied by an applicant or a holder of a prospecting right, mining right or mining permit when such application, prospecting right, mining right or mining permit will have the effect of resettlement of landowners, lawful occupiers, holders of informal and communal land rights, mine communities and host communities.

The Guideline outlines the process and requirements to be complied with by an applicant or a holder of a prospecting right, mining right or mining permit when such application or right will result in physical resettlement of those listed above from their land.

The Guideline makes provision for development of a Resettlement Plan, a Resettlement Action Plan and a Resettlement Agreement.
