This media article raises the possible repercussions for Msunduzi Municipality of not having an effective monitoring and evaluation system in place. The article describes how Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) revealed that the City's grant funding would be in trouble if they did not get their house in order. The Municipality had not been able to report on their projects and grant funding as they were supposed to each July. For example, the municipality had no record of Pietermaritzburg's stormwater system as the drawing had been sent away for scanning but never returned. The municipality had also not been able to meet the standards and projections set by them.
