This media article describes how the lack of stormwater drainage plans for Msunduzi Local Municipality's CBD is very likely to affect the municipality’s ability to properly and effectively perform both preventative maintenance and consequential repairs, which repairs may be urgent. It also critically affects the municipality’s ability to properly plan the future expansion of or changes to the network.

This follows the findings by the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) in November last year that the City had no direction with regard to planning and implementing projects.
