Report

Global

This report examines the growing global solid waste crisis driven by population growth, urbanisation, and rising consumption, which is overwhelming municipal systems and budgets worldwide. It shows that while poor waste management poses serious environmental, health, and economic risks, it also presents a major opportunity. With the right policies and investments, waste can be transformed into a source of jobs, innovation, and sustainable economic growth. Using the latest data from 217 countries and 262 cities, the report provides an evidence-based framework to help governments understand current waste trends and make informed decisions about more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable waste management futures.
