Marie Huchzermeyer has been working in postgraduate studies in the field of housing and urban studies in the School of Architecture at Wits University since 2001.

Her research expertise is in housing and informal settlement policy, private rental housing, housing rights and right to the city.

Her research has spanned South Africa, Brazil, Germany, Kenya and other African countries.

She is based in the Centre for Urbanism and Built Environment Studies (CUBES) at the School of Architecture and Planning.
