Join the African Climate Alliance for an interactive journey exploring the connections between spatial justice and climate justice in Johannesburg. Participants will travel by train from Park Station to Phefeni, cycle through Soweto with Book Ibhoni, engage with community stories and voices, and take part in discussions and participatory mapping led by Gauteng City Region Observatory to imagine what a more just, inclusive and climate-resilient city could look like.

Through movement, storytelling and collective reflection, particiants will explore how apartheid spatial planning, mobility, land, housing, infrastructure and unequal access to resources continue to shape people's everyday experiences and exposure to climate vulnerability. The journey from Johannesburg's city centre to Soweto provides an opportunity to understand how the geography of the city reflects histories of inequality, resistance and community resilience.
