Atlas of Uncertainty
Reframing uncertainty and migration in urban Africa
Atlas of Uncertainty examines how everyday uncertainty such as unstable work, insecure housing, and environmental risks shapes migration patterns and urban life in African cities. It argues that migration is not simply a crisis or problem but a normal and adaptive response to these conditions, helping people navigate challenges and find opportunities. The atlas challenges traditional policy approaches by showing that uncertainty can also foster resilience, innovation, and new forms of urban living, and it calls for more flexible, inclusive urban planning that better reflects how people actually move and survive in rapidly changing cities.
