This paper documents the evidence synthesis capability developed in the Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) over the past five years. Current management and leadership have expressed the will to expand this capability within DPME and across the South African government, where knowledge and skills will be shared and instilled as a collective public sector approach in the implementation of the National Development Plan.
