The 4th Mekong Regional Land Forum (MRLF 2025), taking place on 17–19 September 2025 in Bangkok, will convene land stakeholders from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and beyond - including regional and global experts - to explore just and sustainable solutions to land-related challenges in the Mekong region. Organized by the Mekong Region Land Governance (MRLG) Project with media support from the Land Portal Foundation, the Forum is a space where community voices, national policy, and regional strategies come together. This year’s themes highlight the intersections of land governance with climate action, agrarian transitions, and inclusive policy reform.
Across the Mekong region, rapid development, agribusiness expansion, and climate commitments are reshaping land use and tenure systems. Governments are revising land policies to meet sustainability and equity goals. Meanwhile, Indigenous peoples, farmers, and civil society are advocating for stronger recognition of customary tenure, more inclusive decision-making, and equitable benefit-sharing. The Forum builds on these dynamics by fostering cross-country dialogue and highlighting innovative practices and persistent challenges.
To support participants in engaging more deeply, the Land Portal offers curated resources, including detailed country portfolios on Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. Additionally, the MRLG publication collection includes over 100 documents offering evidence and insights into key land governance topics across the region.
