The Citymark project, supported by the Cities Support Programme of National Treasury in South Africa, focuses on analysing the residential property markets, particularly emphasising the lower end of the market. Using title deeds data from Lightstone Pty Ltd, the project categorises the market into five segments based on property values. It conducts in-depth spatial analysis by merging suburb-level data from the deeds registry with StatsSA subplace data from the 2011 Census. The project produces separate reports for each of the eight metros, covering various aspects like government-sponsored properties, transaction types, lending, and first-time homebuyers. Additionally, it provides market intelligence dashboards allowing users to engage with data at metro levels, offering insights into transit corridors, central areas, national overviews, housing stock and transactions by metro, government-subsidised housing, and detailed analysis of mortgage lending. The reports and dashboards contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics within South Africa's residential property markets.
