Report

Africa, Asia, North America, South America

This report reviews UN-Habitat’s gender equality work over the past five years, showing how women’s empowerment and sustainable urban development are interconnected. Using global case studies, it highlights efforts to address discrimination through housing, land rights, essential services, economic empowerment, and inclusive decision-making especially during crises like COVID-19, conflict, and climate change. It showcases tools for gender-responsive urban planning, celebrates grassroots women leaders, and offers recommendations for more inclusive cities. From 2025, UN-Habitat will track budget allocations to gender equality and update this review every five years.
