This case study about Synergy for Energy (PDF, 3MB) delves into the challenges faced by various public and private stakeholders due to the national electricity crisis and ongoing load shedding. These challenges significantly impact multiple economic sectors within the iLembe district. Given the importance of a consistent energy supply for the district's economic growth and sustainability, stakeholders convened through the Vuthela iLembe LED Support Programme in June 2023.

The primary objective of the Vuthela Programme is to enhance the economic prospects of residents within the iLembe district. It aims to achieve this by fostering sustainable economic growth in the local economy, focusing on initiatives that create improved job opportunities and income generation. The programme encompasses five distinct components, namely Public Finance Management, Municipal Infrastructure, Private Sector Development, Building Inclusive Growth, and Partnerships and Coordination.

The pivotal "Synergy for Energy" seminar facilitated a collaborative platform where participants could exchange insights and cultivate a collective understanding of the challenges confronting the district. This seminar also shed light on the emerging opportunities that could potentially mitigate these challenges effectively.
