This book examines the role of transport and logistics in addressing food insecurity across Africa. Using the World Bank’s FlowMax model, it analyses how transport-related challenges affect food production, distribution, and imports. It addresses six key questions on Africa’s long food supply chains, regional trade, domestic distribution issues, infrastructure gaps, market distortions, and storage investment barriers. The book identifies weaknesses and offers recommendations to enhance food system resilience, including better international connectivity, regional integration, logistics, and market access.
