The 14th edition of the Housing Finance in Africa Yearbook, produced annually by CAHF (Centre for Affordable Housing Finance) is a cornerstone publication contributing significantly to the housing sector across the continent. Departing from its traditional format, the 2023 edition focuses on on-the-ground affordable housing projects that showcase innovation in various aspects such as end-user finance, building design, construction materials, methods, green building, and more. The inclusion of text boxes in each project profile specifically highlights instances of innovation.

Noteworthy for its consistent emphasis on the lower end of the market, the Yearbook stands out in the sector by providing critical insights into affordable housing. Its general overviews of housing, housing finance, and property markets in each country prioritise information relevant to households at the bottom of the income pyramid, offering updates that are unparallelled in their focus on the residential property market and affordability.

The publication's uniqueness is further underscored by its collaborative production model, relying on primary, decentralised data collection. Individual country profiles are researched and authored by different housing and housing finance experts, fostering collaboration with in-country experts wherever possible. With a record 73 authors and co-authors contributing to the 55 profiles in the 2023 edition, the Yearbook truly represents a joint effort involving over 90 members of the sector. This collaborative approach, coupled with the inclusion of new authors and external editors, reinforces the Yearbook's role as a comprehensive and updated resource in the field of affordable housing in Africa.
