The Colouring Cities Research Programme (CCRP) is an international, open-data initiative led by The Alan Turing Institute, aiming to enhance the quality, sustainability, and resilience of national building stocks. It develops open-source platforms that collect, verify, and visualise detailed spatial data on individual buildings, including attributes like age, use, construction methods, and energy performance. These platforms are collaboratively managed by academic institutions across various countries, enabling researchers, governments, industry, and citizens to contribute and access standardised building-level data. By facilitating comprehensive insights into building compositions and dynamics, the CCRP supports informed decision-making aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and promotes more sustainable urban development.
