This volume will provide a comprehensive, interdisciplinary account of the Vaal Triangle’s past, present, and future transformations and we invite contributions for an edited volume exploring the Vaal Triangle’s:
- Historical and contemporary industrial development
- Township economies, informal sectors, and local enterprise
- Social movements, resistance, and political histories
- Spatial planning, urban form, and post-apartheid transformation
- Environmental legacies, sustainability, and industrial decline
- Socio-cultural transformations linked to heritage, identity, memory, and lived experiences.

- Abstract: 250 words
- Deadline for abstract submission: 27 February 2026
- Notification of acceptance: 13 March 2026
- First draft of full chapter due: 30 November 2026
- Chapter length: 6,000–8,000 words incl. references, figures, and tables
Honorarium: Up to R20,000 per accepted chapter, contingent upon several factors, including the number of accepted chapters.
