The Gauteng Waterways Solutions Summit, hosted by the University of Johannesburg’s Process, Energy & Environmental Technology Station (UJ PEETS), will bring together researchers, industries, community-based organisations, regulators, manufacturers of products with packaging, citizen scientists, and NGOs in a shared effort to co-develop actionable pathways for river system recovery.
Key objectives of the summit include:

- Enhancing collaboration across sectors, with a focus on engaging local industries and brand owners.
This summit is a platform to engage key actors across sectors to play an active, solutions-oriented role in restoring the province’s vital water systems. It provides a space to go beyond understanding the problem, for the coordination and co-creation of lasting solutions that leverage local experience, scientific knowledge, existing and emerging solutions, extended producer responsibility (EPR), and systems-level collaboration.
